MINUTES ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF VETERINARY CLINICIANS WASHINGTON STATE CONVENTION AND TRADE CENTER WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6, 2007
ATTENDANCE
Dr. Mimi Arighi, president, called the meeting to order at approximately 8:30 a.m. I. QUORUM
Without objection, a quorum was noted to conduct business of the Membership of the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – May 31, 2006
The minutes of the meeting of May 31, 2006 were brought up for consideration. Without objection, there was unanimous consent to approve the minutes as published.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Dr. Mimi Arighi
Dr. Arighi thanked those in attendance for their participation in the meeting. She thanked Dr. Michael Schaer for his hard work putting together the educational forum.
Dr. Michael Schaer updated those in attendance about the day’s events. He thanked the sponsors of the event, which included: Novartis, Care Credit, Purina, Pfizer, AVMA PLIT and Clinicians Brief. He thanked Dr. Charlotte LaCroix for leading the discussion, “Who’s Watching The House.”
In the absence of Dr. Fingland, Dr. Arighi reviewed the financial reports as prepared by the administrative office (Attachment I). She reported that the association was in good shape, financially. Dr. Arighi thanked Dr. Fingland for his hard work. It was moved and seconded to approve the treasurer’s report. The motion carried.
President Arighi noted that Dr. DeBowes and Dr. Garvey had been representing the AAVC at AVMA functions, but were unable to attend this meeting.
Dr. Schaer thanked Molly McKee and the AAVC staff for her help in coordinating the Annual Educational Forum.
Awards Committee member Dr. David Senior announced that Dr. Martin Vidal, of Louisiana State University and Dr. Lauren Riester-Pinchbeck of The Ohio State University were the two recipients of the 2007 Resident Awards. Dr. Senior presented Dr. Vidal with a plaque recognizing this achievement.
The results of the 2007 Matching Program were noted (Attachment II).
Dr. Mimi Arighi announced the ballot results from the recent election (Attachment III). Dr. Pat LeBlanc with Michigan State University was elected President-Elect; and Dr. Roger Fingland was re-elected Secretary-Treasurer.

Dr. Mimi Arighi presented the gavel to President-Elect, Dr. Michael Schaer. Dr. Schaer presented the past president’s plaque to Dr. Arighi.
Dr. Schaer thanked those in attendance for the opportunity to serve as president of the AAVC.
There being no other business before the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians, it was moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded and carried.
