MINUTES ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF VETERINARY CLINICIANS THE BALTIMORE CONVENTION CENTER BALTIMORE, MARYLAND WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1, 2005 ATTENDANCE
Dr. David Senior called the meeting to order at approximately 9:00 a.m. There were approximately 15 members and guests in attendance.
I. QUORUM
Without objection, a quorum was noted to conduct the business of the Membership of the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting of June 9, 2004 were brought up for consideration. Without objection, there was unanimous consent to approve the minutes as published.
III. PRESIDENT’S REPORT - Dr. David Senior
Dr. Senior gave a brief report on the activities of the Association. He expressed appreciation of the Executive Committee for their work on AAVC. He reviewed the VIRMP online status and reported the Matching Program successfully completed another year as a web-based program. He stated that an issue of concern for the AAVC was the staffing of veterinary clinicians within Veterinary Teaching Hospitals.
IV. PRESIDENT-ELECT’S REPORT - Dr. Cecil Moore
The report of the President-Elect was delayed until later in the meeting.
V. SECRETARY/ TREASURER’S REPORT - Dr. Roger Fingland
In the absence of Dr. Fingland, Dr. Senior reviewed the financial reports as prepared by the administrative office (Attachment I). Those reports included the Balance Sheet as of May 27, 2005 and the Checkbook Report of July 1, 2004 through May 27, 2005. It was moved and seconded to approve the treasurer’s report. The motion carried.
VI. AVMA DELEGATE’S REPORT - Dr Richard DeBowes
No report.
VII. COMMITTEE REPORT’S
Dr. Moore thanked the attendees for their participation at the AAVC Annual Meeting. He expressed appreciation to the ACVIM staff for their assistance in setting up this meeting and to the speakers for their efforts. He reviewed the scheduled AAVC meeting.
Awards Committee Chair, Dr. Corinne Sweeney announced Dr. Doug Allen with the University of Georgia as the 2005 recipient of the Faculty Achievement Award. Dr. Sweeney presented the 2005 Resident Award winner to Dr. Jacqueline Whittemore with Colorado State University. Dr. Whittemore received the applause of the attendees. Dr. Sweeney also announced Dr. Philipp Mayhew with the University of Pennsylvania as a 2005 Resident Award Recipient.
The Results of the 2005 Matching Program were noted [Attachment II].
Dr. Senior announced the ballot results from the recent election [Attachment III]. Dr. Mimi Arighi with the Purdue University was elected President-Elect; and Dr. Roger Fingland was elected Secretary-Treasurer.

X. PRESENTATION OF THE GAVEL/PAST PRESIDENT PLAQUE
Dr. Senior presented the gavel to President-Elect, Dr. Cecil Moore. Dr. Moore presented the past president’s plaque to Dr.Senior.
Dr. Moore gave brief comments on the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians.
XI. ADJOURNMENT
There being no other business before the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians, it was moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded and carried.
