MINUTES ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF VETERINARY CLINICIANS THE MINNEAPOLIS CONVENTION CENTER MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA WEDNESDAY, JUNE 9, 2004
ATTENDANCE
Dr. Doug Allen called the meeting to order at approximately 9:00 a.m. There were approximately 65 members and guests in attendance.
I. QUORUM
Without objection, a quorum was noted to conduct the business of the Membership of the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting of June 4, 2003 were brought up for consideration. Without objection, there was unanimous consent to approve the minutes as published.
III. PRESIDENT=S REPORT - Dr. Doug Allen
Dr. Allen gave a brief report on the activities of the Association through year with comments on the Veterinary Internship Residency Matching Program. The Matching Program successfully completed another first year as a web-based program.
IV. PRESIDENT-ELECT=S REPORT - Dr. David Senior
The report of the President-Elect was delayed until later in the meeting.
V. SECRETARY/ TREASURER=S REPORT - Dr. Roger Fingland
In the absence of Dr. Fingland, Dr. Allen reviewed the financial reports as prepared by the administrative office (Attachment I). Those reports included the Balance Sheet as of June 7, 2004 and the Checkbook Report of July 1, 2003 through June 7, 2004. Without objection the report of the Secretary/ Treasurer was agreed to.
VI. AVMA DELEGATE=S REPORT - Dr Michael Garvey
No report.
VII. COMMITTEE REPORT’S
The Annual Meeting report was delayed until later in the meeting.
Awards Committee Chair, Dr. Corinne Sweeney announced Dr. Anthony Knight with Colorado State University as the 2004 recipient of the Faculty Achievement Award. Dr. Josie Traub-Dargatz accepted the award on behalf of Dr. Knight. Dr. Sweeney presented the 2004 Resident Award winner to Dr. Darian Feary with Colorado State University. Dr. Feary received the applause of the attendees. Dr. Sweeney also announced Dr. Jason Wheeler with the University of Florida as a 2004 Resident Award Recipient.
The Results of the 2004 Matching Program were noted [Attachment II].
Dr. Allen announced the ballot results from the recent election [Attachment III]. Dr. Cecil Moore with the University of Missouri was elected President-Elect; Dr. Roger Fingland was elected Secretary-Treasurer, and Dr. Michael Garvey was elected Alternate Delegate.

X. PRESENTATION OF THE GAVEL/PAST PRESIDENT PLAQUE
Dr. Allen presented the gavel to President-Elect, Dr. David Senior. Dr. Senior presented the past president’s plaque to Dr. Doug Allen.
Dr. Senior expressed his appreciation to Dr. Larry Glickman and Dr. Mark Holmes as speakers for the AAVC Annual Meeting. The topic of the AAVC Annual Meeting is Evidence-Based Medicine. Dr. Senior thanked Banfields, The Pet Hospital for their sponsorship of the AAVC Annual Meeting.
XI. ADJOURNMENT
There being no other business before the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians, it was moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded and carried.
